Pet Shelters - Sample 2

Pet shelters have become very popular in the United States today. At these shelters, the pets are taken care of in the same way as a family member. Pets are provided proper shelters that provide them all the facilities for a hygienic living. Pet shelters may require proof of vaccines. Pet shelters need to have a current photograph of your pet.

Pet shelters should have a properly-sized pet carrier for each animal. The carriers should be large enough for the animal to stand and turn around. If you are running a pet shelter, it is mandatory to keep in touch with animal control shelters and veterinary clinics. They will help your pet shelter by acting as potential refuge for your pet, during a disaster.

All the animals brought to a pet shelter are required to have proper identification collar and rabies tag, and proper identification on all belongings, like a carrier or cage. Your pet shelter should have a leash, an ample supply of food, water and food bowls. In order to maintain the health and hygiene of the pets, you must be ready with any necessary medications, specific care instructions and news papers or trash bags for clean-up.

Pet shelter has some responsibilities attached to it. It is your duty in running a pet shelter to bring pets indoor well in advance of bad weather. Pets should be taught to remain calm in such natural calamities. You can walk pets on a leash, until they become re-oriented to their home. If you change the familiar scents and landmarks of a pet shelter, often the pets could easily be confused and get lost. You need to be careful with reptiles and debris. They can pose a great threat to your pet shelter at times.
